SUMMARY:The Rise and Rise Of AR and VR Technologies
DESCRIPTION:Despite AR and VR technologies being the “next big thing” for quite a while now\, often the practical applications and uses are limited\, whether due to bulky and costly equipment\, less-than-progressive-attitudes or other considerations. \nThis event\, organised with the Design\, Simulation and Modelling Special Interest Group explores the practical uses of AR/VR and other visualisation technologies. \nHow can these technologies make the difference in your business? Are the potential gains in efficiency and accuracy worth the investment? How far away are we from these technologies allowing us to make a quantum leap forward? \nJoin us to hear from experts in the field and people who use these kinds of technologies and see the difference it can make. \nOne of the speakers is Rob Rowsell from Wirth Research who will detail the work they did on their 2008 LMP1 car where they used VR to get the initial designs right\, live imaging overlays during production and AR technology to work with the team and improve their servicing efficiency. \nMore speakers will be announced soon\, but book today to ensure you don’t miss out as places are limited. \nThis event is kindly supported by Silverstone Park\, and is being held at Vulcan Works\, Northampton. \nTickets are available HERE.

SUMMARY:The Vulcan Sessions - 7: Product Management and Design Essentials
DESCRIPTION:Navigating the startup journey in project management\nIn this session\, David Sikharulidze from Mavis Tech will share his experiences in product development as they work on innovative smart glasses designed for visually impaired and blind individuals. \nDavid will illustrate how they transformed a single idea into the creation of almost ten prototypes before finalising their product. This journey\, though intensive in research and development\, taught Mavis Tech invaluable lessons. \nBy learning from their mistakes\, you might save time and resources when developing physical products. David is now on the brink of releasing their smart glasses for visually impaired and blind to the market and are set to begin internal manufacturing. Their insights will be beneficial for any company or startup involved in creating or aspiring to create an electronic product. \nMavis Technologies was established in August 2023\, following the completion of David’s master’s degree at the University of Northampton. Motivated by personal experience as a visually impaired individual\, David recognised the challenges faced by those with visual impairments and sought to create a company dedicated to developing assistive gadgets and smart glasses for the visually impaired and blind community. \nDrawing inspiration from the concept of empowerment and independence\, the idea for Mavis was born\, with a name derived from Magic and Vision\, symbolising their belief in creating solutions that empower individuals with low or no vision.
